available online Some of the linked files are in Yahoo groups. Generally one must be a member of a group to access the files sections, but it is easy to register for free membership. Besides the manuals and brochures described and linked below, there are miscellaneous files, most taken from one manual or another, at Frugal Machinist, and in the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals1. Most of this material is also available at www.bbssystem.com.
The available copy, a 24 page pdf, is incomplete. The original manual is a 40 pager or thereabouts. Get the incomplete 24 pager, M105_Series1.pdf, in two parts - M105_Series1 1-12.pdf (1.2 MB) and M105_Series1 12-24.pdf (2.3 MB) - in the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals1 or as one 3.4 MB file, M105_Series1.pdf, at www.bbssystem.com
This manual includes installation, lubrication, operation, and maintenance of the dovetail ram mill and the 2J head. Parts lists and exploded views cover the dovetail ram mill, M, J, 2J, and E heads, and the 6F longitudinal power feed. There are several .pdf copies of this manual floating around the 'net. The best is probably a 55 page file, bpmanual.pdf (2.4 MB), available at home.att.net/~kayfisher/private/workshop/bp.html. Scroll down a bit, to the section on Documentation. A second copy, titled M105H_Series1.pdf, is available at www.bbssystem.com.. It is identical to bpmanual.pdf with these trivial exceptions - (1) It is undated - the APRIL 1981 on the title page of bpmanual.pdf doesn't appear. Here is the title page from M105H_Series1.pdf A third copy is titled M105H_Series1_manual.pdf. It is available at http://simhardware.org//img/M105H_Series1_manual.pdf. It seems to be basically M105H_Series1.pdf with the pages straightened and cleaned up a bit, and more efficiently compressed. However it is not complete - a dozen pages at the end are missing. Those pages are the parts explosion and parts list for the shaping attachment, the parts explosion and parts list for the longitudinal power feed assembly, motor circuit diagram, power feed circuit diagram, lists for the metric conversion kit and spare parts kits, the blank "notes" page, the generic safety information page, and the back cover.
This is a British manual, printed sometime after 1986. It covers installation, lubrication, operation, and maintenance of the dovetail ram mill, the M, J, 2J2, and E heads, and the Heidenhain DRO. It also has parts lists with exploded views. Get bridgeport.pdf (8.5 MB) at mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/hoodsmachiningpages/index.html The same file is available as bridgeport-manual.pdf at www.bbssystem.com This is a 123 page file. Page 100 seems to be bad, but everything else is OK.
This manual covers installation, lubrication, operation, and maintenance of the dovetail ram mill, the longitudinal power feed unit, and the J head. It includes parts lists and sectional drawings of the dovetail ram mill, and the J, M, E, T, and R heads. Get a 40 page file, 1966Bridgeportmanual.pdf (3.1 MB), from the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals1, The same file is available at www.bbssystem.com
This has been posted as a manual for the round ram mill, but it seems to be a pastiche of several different manuals, most having little to do with the round ram mill. As of Feb. 2005, there seems to be no complete Bridgeport manual for the round ram mill available online. The files Round_Ram_Manual 1-5.pdf, Round_Ram_Manual 6-10.pdf, Round_Ram_Manual 11-20.pdf, Round_Ram_Manual 20-30.pdf, and Round_Ram_Manual 31-38.pdf, are available from the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals2 It is also available as one file, Turrent Mi-1.pdf [sic], at www.bbssystem.com
This is a 19 page catalog for the J, M, R, C, E, and T heads, mounting adapters, and collets. It is undated but appears to be from somewhere around 1953-55. Get attachments_catalog.pdf (2.8 MB) from the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals1 The same file is available as attachments Cat 2030.pdf at www.bbssystem.com Or see the pages as nice clean GIFs here.
This is an undated (though sometime after 1938) 8-page brochure describing the C, M, and R heads, back before they were called C, M, and R. Get this somewhat annoyingly split into three files, bridegprt_hs_attachments 1-3.pdf (1.7 MB), bridegprt_hs_attachments 4-5.pdf (1.5 MB), and bridegprt_hs_attachments 6-8.pdf (2 MB) from the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals2. Or get it as one 5.2 MB file, bridgprt_hs_attachments.pdf, at www.bbssystem.com
This is a 1981 description of #30 quick change tooling for the J and 2J heads. Get a 39 page file Bridgeport_QckChng-tooling.pdf (1.4 MB) from the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals2. A nearly identical file, but 8.7 MB in size, is available at www.bbssystem.com.
This is a set of nine images which are described as a manual for the E head, but they look to me more like nine pages from an unidentified and undated catalog. The individual pages give brief descriptions of the E head, the M, E, and 4J heads, shaper tools and boring heads, two pages of E head maintenance, exploded view of the E head, parts list for the E head, sectional drawing of the E head, and another parts list for the E head. Get these as nine individual jpg image files, named Bridgy slotting head pg1.jpg through Bridgy slotting head pg9.jpg, at www.metalworking.com/dropbox/_2002_retired_files/ See also another catalog page for the E head, BPEHead.jpg, at the same address. The same nine images are available as particularly inept pdf conversions, from the files section of the Yahoo group bridgeport_mill_manuals1. I recommend the jpg versions over the pdfs. Back to The Engine Room |
